PistonsNation has an interesting interview with Will Bynum:
[PN] After a pretty good college career with George Tech you kinda bounced around a little bit, how good did it feel to sign that guaranteed contract with the Pistons?
–-(Will signed a two-year deal, The first year is guaranteed, and the second year is a team option)[WB] I really don’t consider it “bouncing around” at all. I was on high level teams where I learned a lot which gave me the opportunity to mature as a person as well as a player. The paths of my career is one that I think can be an inspiration to a lot of young people who have to go different routes to achieve their goals in life. Never be discouraged and never give up.
As far as signing that guaranteed contract….it feels really good to know that all my hard work has paid off.
Bynum reminds me a little of Mike James. He’s a couple of inches shorter but is quite strong, and at least from what I saw in summer league, plays defense with a great deal of intensity. I’m guessing he won’t see regular minutes in the rotation, but I’m curious to see if he can reprise Lindsey Hunter’s old role as a spot defender, someone who comes into the game looking to get into the ballhandler’s face and disrupt the passing lanes.
In any case, kudos to PN for scoring the interview.

Hope that he can contribute but doesn’t have to play too often. LOL
I’m guessing I will get to see alot of him during the Pistons’ open practice. I’m hoping he will be impressive because I haven’t seen him play yet.
OT- Nice story on refs and an interesting bit about Rip. Sounds like a tough job.

No offense to Mr Bynum, but I would rather have Will Arnett.
‘Ive made a huge mistake’
@Laughton:
Don’t call my escorts whores.
I’ve never been of fan of short PGs, no matter how quick. No one will be able to replace Lindsey’s in your face defense. It was a joy to watch.
ILLUSIONS, Michael. Tricks are what whores do for money.
@Garrett:
Tell that to the guy wearing the $5,000 suit. COME ON!
dude. have you guys seen rip’s beard? awesome. even boney’s gotta like it.
@JD:
“even boney’s gotta like it.”
I just laughed beer out of my nose. (okay, so it’s Monday. I can have a beer, can’t I? How ’bout five?)
MP, the only real problem I have with your scenario is thus:
The Lions are on bye…
any OTHER Monday in the fall and 5 beers borders on restrained.
@PG4L:
Ignorance is bliss– and my ignorance of all things Lions apparently saves me from a whole lot of pain. The only sport I follow (with ZERO exceptions) is basketball. That said, I’ll drink a sixth beer this and every Monday following for those who are as die hard about those Lions as I am about the Pistons.
*cracks a beer, burps, scratches belly*
Damn you and your beer MP! I’m trying to be restrained over here!
Now I have no choice but to drink beer. Lots and lots of beer…
I’m looking at a list of all the PGs in the NBA and there really aren’t that many big point guards left that would give a strong 6′0″ PG much trouble. The list goes Deron Williams, Baron Davis, and….Jose Calderon? Will Bynum should have no physical disadvantage against most of the PGs he’ll face.
Well he wont be facing many, because i doubt he’l be getting much court time at all.. Stuckey 08-09!!
If Bynum plays at all, it’ll probably be against the other teams’ No. 2 or No. 3 PGs anyway, so it’ll be fun to watch. If he can be a pest like Hunter, they could bring him out there for defense, but I don’t know if I see that happening.
@joejoejoe:
I’m probably misreading you (and forgive me if I am), but Calderon deserves a spot on that list undoubtedly. Without the TJ Ford log jam of late, he’s going to be huge this season. Expect 35 or so mpg, a double-double average, 50%+ FG and the highest assist-to-turnover ratio in the league.
I have a feeling Detroit fans will be pleased. I have watched Will in Chicago and he is a force to be reckoned with. The boy has hops. Check out some of his YouTube videos.
Mike Payne - I was including Jose Calderon in good faith. He’s going to be an elite PG. I did the “…” thing only because he doesn’t have the body of work yet of a Baron Davis or Deron Williams.
I watched Will play the boston celtics last night even tho detroit got beat bad I was impressed with Wills defense got several steals nice dunk from outside the circle arm cocked back damn near elbow in rim was sweet slow motion. Then he drove in big baby boi from boston tried to stop him and got thrown to the floor with only Will’s right arm I was like damn Wills core strength is amazing. He is def solid and mad hops keep doing your thing will the best is yet to come.
