No D-League for Sharpe

From Keith Langlois: “One of the reasons the Pistons foresee Walter Sharpe staying with them and not playing in the D-League is because of his narcolepsy condition and their desire to provide him a constant structure. Curry said that’s also a reason they’ve had such a structured preseason – meetings, travel times, practice times constant …”

Jesus. That’s really supportive of the kid. I think we can start to see a trend, perhaps attributable to Dumars, or someone in this organization: they know how to develop young talent. These kids aren’t getting thrown into the fire or into the inevitable temptations of instantly having $800K+ to throw around. I wish Dumars was my uncle - I might not have screwed up so much when I was 20!

What Langlois is quoting MC as saying makes sense.

In addition, Walt “Sleepy” Sharpe (anyone here remember Eric “Sleepy” Floyd) needs to learn to play defense for him to get time on the court.

It seems to me that Joe D., MC and staff already like his offense though that still needs work but not as much as his defense.

Sending Sharpe to the D-league will not teach him how to play defense the way that MC wants and the way that Sharpe needs to, to get on the court other than in garbage time.

Bottom line is that keeping him with the Pistons will get him regular rotation minutes a lot sooner than by sending him to Fort Wayne
