Report: Isiah Thomas overdosed on sleeping pills

Sad news out of New York:

PURCHASE, N.Y. (CBS) ― Harrison police were sent to the home of former New York Knicks president Isiah Thomas early Friday morning in response to a call that he had overdosed on sleeping pills, a source confirmed to CBS 2.

Thomas was rushed to White Plains Hospital for treatment, but his condition is not yet known.

According to another report, the Knicks told reporters that Thomas is fine — let’s hope that’s the case.

Update: Isiah denies overdosing, says it’s his daughter who needed help. Confusion reigns. Either way, keep his family in your thoughts and prayers, even if we don’t know what’s going on.

I wonder what Isiah is losing sleep over, that he needs sleeping pills to get sleep…

  3. 3 Matt Watson

If he took 10 pills, as the police chief has confirmed, I’m guessing he’s losing sleep about being alive. This is really sad.

    O man, that’s terrible.

  5. 5 Rob G

This is the guy who had heart all damn day long, playing on injured legs, battling guys a foot taller than him for rebounds. I think he’ll win this fight, too - whatever it is that’s bothering him.

I’m not sure what thread is the open discussion for the weekend but I just want to say….

    “On the banks of the Red Cedar, There’s a school that’s known to all; It’s specialty is winning, And those Spartans play good ball;

Spartan teams are never beaten, All through the game they’ll fight; Fight for the only colors: GREEN AND WHITE!

Go right through for MSU, Watch the points keep growing, Spartan teams are bound to win, They’re fighting with a vim. RAH! RAH! RAH!

See their teams is weakening, We’re going to win this game, FIGHT! FIGHT! SPARTY! FIGHT!

    Victory for MSU!”

No longer the little brother but we now have a little sister. :D

pick on UM while they’re down… don’t get used to it

I seem to remember that I participated in ganging up on Diablo at the beginning of the season. And if I remembered correctly, I said predicted UM would take care of their little bro.

Let’s just say I have a craving for CROW right about now. I opened mouth, inserted foot. What are you gonna do?

Sucks to lose, but I know the Wolverines will turn it around next year. Props to Sparty.

Enjoy it while it lasts, Diablo

Thanks Colin, for the honesty and sincerity.

I don’t mean to rub it in but it has been along time coming. And with tough losses to you guys 3 out of the last 5 years, it really feels good to finally get over the hump.

But also, I will give credit to UM because after a couple tough losses and games that you guys lost that you should of won. I really wasn’t expecting that much of a fight from you guys today but through-out the game, you guys didn’t lay down and kept fighting. I think if anything, that shows you guys care about this rilvary as much as we do and we appreciate the 110% effort you guys put out on that field today.

    And again, thanks.

The difference between Isiah and Dennis Rodman - Rodman wore everything on his sleeve. Isiah kept it all close to the vest.

Ize been drinking the RichRod era away for most of the night….

    Dear Diablo….

bah, i got nothing, we pretty much all knew that was going to happen….

    i feelz like Perdue :(

  12. 12 Forty

Umm purdue would beat toledo and appy state presumably :(

And we had so many recruits at this game - at least they know playing time is available!

I’ve been as down on Isiah as anybody, but this is completely bewildering. I really can’t come to any other conclusion but the obvious, and that’s unfortunate. The only good thing is he didn’t succeed.

It is pretty sad to see someone with so much pride take enough hits that it would come to this. I wish there was a way to bring him back into the organization without having him make any harmful decisions. Joe D and Mr. Davidson must be very worried about him. Part of the blame/shame has to go to Jim Dolan for banning Isaih from seeing the team while he’s still an employee… but I’m not saying that Isaih is just a victim.
