Agent: “Dice is not happy at all” about trade

Remember how I said there were too many moving parts to call this deal done? From A. Sherrod Blakely:

The tentative trade between the Detroit Pistons and the Denver Nuggets may have hit a snag.

While both sides have agreed to trade Pistons guard Chauncey Billups and top reserve Antonio McDyess for Denver’s Allen Iverson, McDyess’ reluctance to be included in the deal may become an issue.

“Dice is not happy at all (about the possible trade),” said Andy Miller, who is the agent for both Billups and McDyess.

Billups, on the other hand, is more open to a trade back to his hometown:

“From Chauncey’s point of view, its kind of a mixed bag of feelings,” Miller said. “He feels very good about what he’s done in Detroit, the legacy he has left. And coming back home to Denver, it’s sort of like coming full circle for him.”

Something to consider: McDyess and Billups are very good friends, and McDyess is certainly familiar with Denver considering he started his career there, was traded to the Suns and then returned to the Nuggets as a free agent back in 1998. Granted, that was 10 years ago, but my point is that it’s a little easier seeing him agree to go back to Denver than it would be another location. This is probably a moot point given reports that Denver will buy him out, but still.

Hold on, this is happening?

This is not good for us, period. AI is overrated, Dice gave his heart and soul for this team..what’s AI gonna do? He’s washed up, there’s a reason his teams pretty much never win.

This is change I dont believe in.

Poor dice. What an outstanding player who gave his heart.

You know what I take it back.

Need4sheed is reporting via the radio that McDyess is expected to come back after 30 days once the nuggets waive him. Intresting…

I really hope Dice stays a Piston. He’s a real classy guy and I want him to win a championship with us. If he returns, I’ll be satisfied with this trade. Dice was our leading rebounder and we couldn’t afford to lose him.

Dice coming back does make me feel a lot better…at least you can say Chauncey is going home, but what benefit was there for Dice in this trade? I guess a month long rest and some extra cash in his pocket for now :/

I think the Nuggets would make out better with this trade. They will be more horizontally stacked and would bring in much needed playoff experience. Billups to ‘Melo all day.

    The trade is now official.

What benefit is there for Dice? if hes being bought out wouldnt he be given a free 6 mil or whatevers left on his contract, only to sign with the pistons and receive additional salary on top of what he would have made anyways/?

Denver Post is reporting that he’s getting bought out. He’d be getting paid to sit out for 30 days, it looks like.

I’d like echo the sentiments. I hope Dyess comes back. With him and AI on the team, we’ve effectively killed the “flip the switch” mentality.

Do you and I EVER disagree? :)

Does anyone here NOT believe Dice would be coming back eventually? Nuggets are almost certainly going to buy him out, it’s just a question of money. Very likely he’ll be back between now and the end of the year, if not Christmas.

MP, read my take in the longer thread that’s been on-going all day.

I’m half tempted to fly home for the first Denver game in Detroit just so I can stand and applaud and thank Chauncey for the last 7 seasons. I think we hang his #1 in the rafters when it’s all said and done. He was the first legitimate domino to fall in our rebuilding process. Some can argue Ben was, but I think that it was Chauncey.

There’s a small fear in the back of my mind that Dice will be disillusioned by getting traded, and he’ll join another contender. I really hope he comes back here, though.
