On Thursday I asked the question, “Which current or former member of the Pistons would you invite to Thanksgiving Dinner, and why?” There were a lot of really funny answers, but DBB reader TW made me laugh the hardest:
If I could invite a Piston, it would have to be George Blaha. Yes I consider him a Piston because he’s been with us since 1976. He would be fun because he could narrate things that happen during Thanksgiving:
While cooking - “Measures and makes!
Making a turkey - “Count that baby and a fowl (get it?)!”
When passing food around the table - “Gives it up, gets it back!”
When eating mashed potatoes - “Scoops it, scores it!”
After eating too much - “In and out… and back in again!”On a side note, one Piston I wouldn’t want at my Thanksgiving is Walter Herrmann. Even though he is my favorite Piston and I think it would be hilarious to have him as my guest, I would be afraid of him using his Fabio good looks and keen fashion sense to steal my fiancee.
TW’s Blaha-inspired humor (and Herrmann-inspired paranoia) won him a pair of tickets to the see the Pistons take on the Bucks the day after Thanksgiving from the Pistons.com suite.
I promised that I’d also select two other winners at random, but I lied. Instead … I selected three: DBB readers Fadel, Tiny and Stuck also each won a pair of tickets. Congrats, fellas! You should have already received an email from me with details — I’ll see you soon!

Ok, I have to share this even though its not related. I cant believe beer is so cheap over there! I will explain later when I dont have my wife nagging at me
I have a moment so here goes. My mum and new step dad have just returned from the states (visiting his family) and I have been told that alcohol is very inexpensive. To compare, 2 pints of beer and 3 bourbons cost $8 in a club over there. In Australia that would cost easily $30 or even $40. First question, how do I get a green card. Second question, can you live in pubs?
Whoa, I must not be going to the right bars. Five drinks for eight bucks? That’s not common. Maybe it was some kind of crazy happy hour deal …

I didn’t come up with one in time, but I have a feeling I’d have had no chance anyway… funny stuff.
I was trying to come up with something that would fit for “Lays it up and lays it in!” and “Heeeeee hit it!” but I couldn’t.
I can’t believe you couldn’t think of one for “Drains a deuce.”
My personal least favorite of his lines.
After dinner, Uncle races out of room - “And he drains the deuce!”

If you send George to pick up the kids from school, he’ll say “and school is out!”
You could have a string quartet playing as background music, and he would exclaim “string music!”
“Don’t look now but… the Lions within 10!”
If you actually hunted and killed the turkey yourself:
“Guns and got it!”

Garett, I really didn’t think you brought much energy or effort to this contest to be honest. It’s like you EXPECT to succeed every time you walk out on the court since winning that one contest over a flawed Lakers team in 2004. Your sense of entitlement is the only thing holding you back from having won many 4 or 5 contests since.
You have to learn to bring it EVERY contest…
