Vince Ellis reports that Kwame Brown has decided against opting out: “He started something last year and he wants to finish it,” [Brown’s agent Mark] Bartelstein said. “In the second half of last season, he started to come on. And he feels he has something to prove.”

From the AP: Jerebko and Dumars actually have a long-term history, although Dumars didn’t realize it until the end of Jerebko’s pre-draft workout. “When we finished, I told him that it was a pleasure to meet him, and he asked if I remembered a kid getting him stat sheets and popcorn at the 2001 European Championships in Sweden,” Dumars said. “I asked him if he knew the kid, and he said he was the kid. He was like 12 years old — that made me feel old.”
Michael Rosenberg of the Free Press alternated between fluff and poison this week, penning a tribute to Joe Dumars and a hit piece on Bill Laimbeer. They’re both interesting, even if they each read like rough drafts as opposed to fully fleshed-out profiles. With all the access he apparently has, getting an actual quote or two from Dumars (or anyone, really) about Laimbeer’s NBA coaching prospects wouldn’t have hurt, no? But, if lazy pundits are your thing, check it out.
Natalie from Need4Sheed had the nostalgic moving pictures; Trey from the Blowtorch has the hilarious still.
This is just awesome: 22 commercials featuring Detroit Pistons.
Not entirely sure what he’s doing over there, but my Google-fu discovered that the Boston Globe reported last week that was joining Rajon Rondo and Aaron Brooks on a Nike junket. What is it with Pistons posing for silly pictures in the Far East?
Pistons fans aren’t the only ones with their eye on Marcin Gortat — the Knicks are reportedly thinking of offering the mid-level this year.
MLive has resurrected It’s Just Sports, a great blog that never should have taken a hiatus in the first place. Congrats to (DBB guest-poster) Patrick Hayes and friends — go check it out.
Ben Wallace told Cleveland’s media he may retire this summer, leaving $14 million on the table. “I tried to tell everybody before I signed this deal that for me it wasn’t about the money,” Wallace said. “I was never into it for the money and if it comes down to it to where I feel I can’t be productive on the floor, I’m not going to come back and try to hold this team hostage because I have another year on this contract. That isn’t me, I’m bigger than that.”
From Peter Vecsey (as such, digest with mountains of salt): “Apparently, rising free agent-of-choice Carlos Boozer is telling confidants he’s either going to Detroit or New Jersey — only way the capsized Nets pull that off is by doing a sign-and-trade. Word has it Jersey will have but three assistants next season and all must take pay cuts.” (via Freep)
