You're looking at a brand new version of Detroit Bad Boys, served to you on a brand new server.... which (hopefully) won't suffer from the same bouts of slowness and downtime that our previous hosting company did. Look around and explore the new digs -- you'll notice some big changes right away.
The first thing you probably noticed isn't new at all -- we changed our banner back to the usual bright flames. The empty Palace was good for the offseason, but with the regular season less than a couple of weeks away, it was time to get back to business.
Second, you probably noticed that new third column on the far right. From our visitor stats, we know that the vast majority of our readers use a large screen resolution, so we decided to add another column and move our "Alley-Oops" category to the sidebar. Most of our posts will remain in the big middle column, but now we can post smaller items over there without worrying about bumping down a bigger post in the middle. Look for it -- we'll probably use it to start pointing out interesting (and sometimes random) links we come across that wouldn't ordinarily fit the rest of the blog.
Third, take a look at the menu at the top -- you'll notice a new tab called Pistons Newswire. We're inclusive here at Detroit Bad Boys -- we know that if you're savvy enough to find us, you probably know about some of the other good Pistons blogs out there. Personally, we're big fans of Natalie over at Need 4 Sheed and Justin from Full-Court Press, as well as the Detroit dailies. So in order to make it easier for our readers to stay on top of everything, we've created a page that features an automatically-updated newswire with feeds from all of those sites -- and even Google News. So go check it out and visit those sites, too. We know you'll be back.
Fourth, the new site has bugs. Lots of them, I bet. That's not a feature, though; that's something I want to get rid of. But when you switch servers and launch a re-design at the same time, bugs are a fact of life. Here are some things that I've already noticed and (for the most part) have resigned myself to live with:
That's what I know about. If you see some other kind of glaring mistake that you think I should know about, please drop me a line -- my email can be found above.
We have a couple of other new features we plan on adding sometime soon, but this is the big stuff. Love it? Hate it? Let us know in the comments.
