Did you think Rasheed Wallace's technical foul for laughing at Zydrunas Ilgauskas was B.S.? Well, so did the NBA. According to the Detroit Free Press, the league has rescinded the technical, just like they did a few times already this year:
The NBA rescinded the technical foul Rasheed Wallace received Monday night at Cleveland. Wallace was called for the foul after he laughed when Zydrunas Ilgauskas fouled him. Wallace's season technical count now stands at 12. He has been charged with 15 technicals, but the league has rescinded two and one -- for hanging on the rim -- doesn't count against his season total.
Players are suspended for one game for a 16th technical and a game for every two technicals after that.
A lot of Pistons fans have been nervous about Rasheed's tech total ever since the league instituted the new rule about suspensions. So let's do some math: with a 47-9 record, we've played 56 games so far.
12 techs / 56 games played = 4.6667 games per tech
OK, at that pace, what's going to happen in the remaining 26 games?
26 games left / (4.6667 games/tech) = 5.5714 techs
Let's round that up to 6. So with 12 techs that count toward his total already, he's on pace for 18 on the season, which would result in him being suspended for two games.
Of course, when you think about it, missing just one game will slow down his current pace, which might help him avoid earning that second one-game suspension. Plus, this is all assuming that no more of his future techs are rescinded and he doesn't start to go a little easier on the refs toward the end of the season once he's on the brink.
Personally, I'm predicting he doesn't miss a single game. What do you think? Vote in the poll and tell us in the comments.
