Last week we announced the creation of a new Detroit Bad Boys group on Flickr, the popular (and free!) photo-sharing site. We're inviting Pistons fans far and wide to join, contributing as many Pistons-related pictures as possible. I'm happy to say that we now have eight members who are sharing a total of 66 pictures.
In what I hope will to develop into a new regular feature here on Detroit Bad Boys, I'd like to introduce the first ever "Reader Pictures of the Week."Perhaps this needs a catchier nickname. . . any suggestions? Leave them in the comments. This week, we're getting the ball rolling with three pictures, but in the future we may do more or less depending on how many new submissions we get.
In no particular order, here they are:

This one just cracks me up, not only because it's funny to see a mascot wearing a cast but also because I didn't realize until now that Hooper was such a big Tony Delk fan. (What's up with the cast in the first place? It was a high-flying stunt gone wrong.) Mujer, who (correct me if I'm wrong) is known around these parts as frequent DBB commenter "Angela," was a lock to get at least one picture mentioned in this space since she's been the group's most prolific contributor with 38 pictures (keep 'em coming!).

Look familiar? It should -- it's the basis for the picture I've been using all season in this site's header. Matt is a good friend of mine, and I was sitting about three seats to his right when he snapped this shot during the player introductions of Game 5 of the 2004 NBA Finals, just four quarters before Detroit beat L.A. to win its first title since 1990. We were sitting in the very last row of the Palace (so high up we could actually reach up and touch the drop-ceiling above our heads), but in hindsight it ended up providing a great vantage point for one of the coolest pictures I've ever seen taken at a Pistons game. (And yes, believe it or not, you really can feel a blast of heat from those jets, even from where we were sitting.)

I love the color and energy of this shot -- not just Tay and Carlos getting their bump on, but the whole crowd standing on its feet cheering the team on. (On a sidenote, I'd like to thank farlane, a frequent DBB commenter who also runs the Absolute Michigan blog, for suggesting the whole idea of having a Reader Picture of the Week feature in the first place. He has some experience with this type of stuff, doing the same thing over at his Michigan in Pictures blog.)
If you have any Pistons pics you'd like to share -- whether it's a picture you took at the Palace or just some shots of you and your friends watching the game from home -- sign up for a free Flickr account and submit your pictures to the Detroit Bad Boys group. Don't worry about whether or not you think your pictures are good enough, because there's no way they're as bad as my first efforts.
