Amir Johnson was assigned to the Sioux Falls SkyForce of the NBDL on Monday. The move was expected -- from Monday's Detroit Free Press:
The Skyforce contacted the Pistons about bringing in Johnson after losing its leading scorer, Andre Brown, to an NBA call-up.
The Pistons said this week that they're not ready to send the 19-year-old to South Dakota, but they might be reconsidering because they know he'd get ample playing time.
"I told Detroit if they're ever going to send Amir Johnson down," coach Mo McHone told the Argus Leader, "this would be the perfect time to do it."
Reading between the lines, I'm guessing this move means Dale Davis, who's been sick lately, is ready for action.
Johnson played 18 games in the NBDL last year, averaging 17.3 points with an amazing .673 field goal percentage in 18 games -- needless to say, he plays close to (and above) the rim. He also averaged 7.3 boards and 1.5 blocks in 27.7 minutes of action.
