From HOOPSWORLD's Travis Heath:
Multiple sources have told HOOPSWORLD the Denver Nuggets
and newly acquired forward Antonio McDyess are in the process of negotiating a buy-out. The proposal includes McDyess getting a little over $6 million over the course of the next two seasons. The Nuggets original intention was to keep McDyess. One source indicated that had McDyess been willing to report, the trade likely would have been consummated as early as last Friday.
"It's a process in progress," Denver head coach George Karl explained. "I know there's some... I guess the phrase would be negative communication with (McDyess' agent) Andy Miller."
McDyess is currently set to make just over $13.6 million over this year and next, so it sounds like he's willing to leave a lot of money on the table simply not to play for the Nuggets. Even if the buy-out happens, he won't be eligible to sign with the Pistons for 30 days.
Thanks to DBB reader Jim for the tip.
