Detroit Shock in the WNBA conference finals

New, comments

DBB reader joejoejoe, in response to my WNBA comments:

The average attendance in the WNBA last year was 8,039, which compares favorably to the attendance of the early 60s Boston Celtics with Bill Russell & Bob Cousy coached by Red Auerbach. The WNBA is not everybody’s cup of tea but neither was the most successful dynasty in the history of pro sports.

Touche. And on that note, congrats to the Shock for advancing to the Eastern Conference final with a win on Friday in Atlanta. The ball tips on Wednesday (8 PM, ESPN2) against the Indiana Fever -- for anyone who enjoys winning Detroit basketball in all shapes and varieties, consider this your early game thread.
