Detroit Pistons 2011-2012 Regular Season Schedule Released

New, comments

Despite the ongoing lockout, the 2011-2012 NBA schedule was released about an hour ago (along with national TV coverage). I posted the Pistons schedule itself after the jump, but here's a little rundown of what it consists [via team press release].

The schedule boasts 31 home games played on Friday, Saturday or Sunday – the most since the 2007-08 season. [...]

"We are pleased to announce the 2011-12 Pistons’ regular-season schedule," said Executive Vice President Dan Hauser. "With 31 weekend and holiday home games on the schedule, we feel that our fans will have great opportunities to enjoy Detroit Pistons basketball throughout the course of the season."

Highlights of the Pistons’ home schedule include two home meetings against the Chicago Bulls (December 10 and April 15), Boston Celtics (November 27 and January 7) and Orlando Magic (December 18 and April 3) as well as single-game match-ups with the NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks (February 8), Eastern Conference Champion Miami Heat (December 4), Los Angeles Lakers (March 9), New York Knicks (November 6) and Oklahoma City Thunder (January 27). [...]

The club’s local television schedule on FS Detroit will be announced at a later date. Detroit will play 19 sets of back-to-back games this season, the fewest since the 2008-09 campaign. Five of its back-to-back sets fall on the road, five begin on the road and conclude at home, five are home-and-away back-to-backs and four sets are home-and-home back-to-backs.

Of course, seeing as the season could be suspended, it's possible the schedule changes dramatically.
