Detroit lost their ninth straight game in Utah on Monday night, 105-90. The Jazz shot 54-percent and outscored Detroit 18-3 in the final five minutes of a 30-13 fourth quarter.
The Pistons missed nine free throws in 28 attempts and their final seven shots from the field, all while allowing the Jazz to hit seemingly more three-pointers than they have all season -- not a great formula for extending three-game winning streaks.
Unfortunately, Rodney Stuckey's 29 points and seven assists went for naught. For the Jazz, Al Jefferson was dominant, pouring in a game-high 33 points on 14-for-18 shooting and grabbing 12 boards. Greg Monroe was 5-for-12 and only had five rebounds.
Despite the loss, the dueling objective of making the playoffs improved since the Raptors win and the Pistons are now just three games out of the No. 8 spot behind the Cavaliers, fast-falling Knicks and Bucks.
Not serious question of the game recap: Can the Pistons be the NBA's first lottery AND playoff bound Eastern Conference team?
- From KooLanglois:
- Knight had his first four turnover game since February 19 and only had three assists.
- Ben Gordon shot well, 5-for-10, but was 0-for-4 from three.
- Next game is Friday in Sacramento.

The final insult came in the waning seconds when Jefferson launched a 3-pointer to avoid a 24-second violation and drained it – the first successful triple of his NBA career. Of course, it came against the Pistons at Utah.
