Pistons visited St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for Hoops Week

The other day, I received an email from a public relations coordinator from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital letting me know that Pistons head coach Lawrence Frank will be wearing a special pin next week as part of a league wide campaign to help raise awareness and support for the Hospital and Hoops for St. Jude week.

I was also asked if I wanted to put up a post highlighting the Hoops week and the Pistons' visit to St. Jude in Memphis when they were in town playing the Grizzlies. Of course, I said absolutely because, well, the more people that know about this, the better. The research done by hospitals like St. Jude's, among others, have played an indomitable role in dramatically improving U.S. pediatric cancer survival rates from 20 to 80 percent overall and, really, these children are some of the Pistons' and NBA's biggest fans.

Here's how you can help:

Fans can go to www.stjude.org/hoops to learn more about St. Jude and to participate in an online auction that will feature autographed items from current and former NBA stars. The auction will run March 21, Noon EST – March 31, Noon EST. All the money raised from the auction will go to help finding cures and saving children.

After the jump are photos from the Pistons' visit. Thank you to St. Jude's for sharing these with us and allowing us to help spread the word of a good cause that's been helping save children's lives for over 50 years.
