I missed the first half, but I don't know if I really missed anything. The Pistons were down nine at the half and shooting about as horrible as they finished the game (although I did see they started the game 8-for-10 and had an 18-10 lead). They scored 25 and 26 in the first and third quarters, respectively, and then 10 in both the second and fourth. Yes, they pulled within four a couple times in the second half, but I didn't feel like they were ever actually in it despite the defense being more than respectable.
The Pistons weren't hitting their shots like they weren't getting any whistles, which came mostly from the lack of penetration by its guards (zero free throws). Chicago, sans Derrick Rose, finished with 17 freebies and the Pistons had just six.
Austin Daye was lackluster in his first start since January 6, shooting just 5-for-14 (although he hit two of his last three shots). I thought he played some solid defense (three steals and two blocks) and had spurts of competency on offense, but overall, it was much of the same Daye we've seen in smaller doses this year -- no confidence; I noticed him looking Frank's way every time he messed up as if he was constantly worried about getting the hook. It was nice to see him get 30-plus minutes, but he left a lot to be desired from what I saw. Hopefully he continues to get opportunities, though.
Brandon Knight was the Pistons' leading scorer with 16 points, but it took 18 shots and he had three turnovers to just one assist. He made his first two three-pointers and then went 0-for-5 in his final 31 minutes. Mind bottling.
More randomness with bullets in front in a minute.
- Moose finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. He's good.
- Tayshaun Prince took 14 shots and made six. He also had a team-high six assists. He's the point guard of the future with veteran leadership ability.
- Will Bynum was OH-for-8. He also had zero assists. Where's Russell?
- I really wish Ben Wallace would continue to play until forever.
- Japanese Fart Scrolls.
- Box Score
- Pistons are 8th worst in the NBA with 18 wins and there are four teams with 17 wins. As I type this, 17-win SACtown is hanging with Utah.
- Sorry freywagg, here's the relatively early ...
