Joe Dumars finally figured out what it's like to trade again and in doing so has sort of amended for the disastrous 2009 free agent signing of Ben Gordon:
Detroit has traded Ben Gordon and a protected future first-round pick to Charlotte for Corey Maggette, league sources tell Y! Sports.

About that pick they're giving up:
Pick is fully lottery protected next yr, top 8 in yr 2, top 1 in yr 3 and unprotected in yr 4 #Pistons

About all that money they're saving:
Pistons clear almost $15M from their 13-14 payroll with deal. Gordon due $26.6M next 2 yrs; Maggette has expiring deal at $10.9M for 12-13.

As Matt Dery pointed out on Twitter, Dumars was able to dump Nazr Muhammed on Michael Jordan in the past and has now coaxed him into taking Gordon off the Pistons' books. Bobcats new coach Mike Dunlap has stated they needed a shooter and now they have one -- Ben Gordon. Enjoy that, and thank you.
MFMP will have some more on the deal and the potential fallout in a minute. Now, your thoughts.
