Pistons announce open practice at Oakland U.

The Detroit Pistons will have a practice open to the public Oct. 6 at Oakland University.

Andrew Weber-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Detroit Pistons have announced a practice open to the public Oct. 6 at the O-Rena at Oakland University. The team has created a Facebook events page to mark the occasion where they posted some more information:

Get a look at the Detroit Pistons before they kick off the 2012-13 season with open practice on Saturday, October 6! The practice will take place at the O-Rena at Oakland University beginning at 11 a.m. You can meet the Pistons entertainment teams and enter to win VIP experiences and other cool prizes. Then, check out the team's open practice and scrimmage from 12 - 1 p.m. Admission is free, but space is limited.

This could be a great opportunity to get an up close and personal look at Andre Drummond, Kim English, Khris Middleton and Slava Kravtsov. It's also a great opportunity to get an up-close-and-personal impression of who looks leaner and meaner and who looks like they spent too much time at the taco food truck.

Does Charlie Villanueva look healthy and in shape enough to contribute? Have Greg Monroe and/or Brandon Knight added the strength needed to take the next step in their development. And perhaps a friendly scrimmage can help clear up lingering questions like how the small forward rotation should shake out.
