Rodney Stuckey inactive in 'coach's decision'

Rodney Stuckey is inactive. That much is known. Why he is inactive is a mystery.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Rodney Stuckey has not had a good year. He's been up and down but mostly down as he struggles to adjust to not being the primary ball handler when on the floor. First, he played second fiddle to point guard Brandon Knight in the starting lineup. Then he asked to come off the bench and had a brief resurgence. Then he lost the ball again when Will Bynum decided it was time for him to take over games.

Now, Stuckey is being listed as inactive against the Orlando Magic in what is being called a "coach's decision." The information comes from official Pistons beat writer Keith Langlois.

This is interesting for several reason including the fact that Stuckey's best game since the beginning of the year occurred when the Pistons played the Magic five days ago. In that game he scored 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting.

The fact that it was specified as a coach's decision probably rules out an impending trade. Does it mean that either Jonas Jerebko or Kim English is getting a shot at auditioning for a rotation spot? Did Stuckey do something that ran foul of coach Lawrence Frank and this is a one-game punishment?

We'll let you know when we have more information.
