The Pistons are in Orlando for more preseason action, taking on the Magic without guards Chauncey Billups, Will Bynum, Brandon Jennings and Rodney Stuckey. Expect heavy burn tonight from rookies Peyton Siva and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who will be playing with little support in the backcourt tonight.
The Magic will feature several ex-Pistons tonight, including Jason Maxiell, who departed Detroit for a two-year, $5M deal. Maxiell is joined by ex-Piston Arron Afflalo, who might not be with the Magic on the longer-term with the arrival of rookie Victor Oladipo. Oladipo is slated to spend time at both guard positions tonight, a surprise for those who didn't see Oladipo as a point guard prior to the 2013 NBA draft.
Like the Pistons, the Magic have been an increasingly young team over recent years. Their starting line includes several players on rookie-scale contracts, including Center Nikola Vucevic and Tobias Harris, with Mo Harkless getting close to starter burn on many nights. Despite their youth, the Magic are behind the Pistons in the upward mobility that is mostly thanks to Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond.
This is your quick-and-dirty game thread, Pistons fans. Enjoy the preseason action!
