Andre Drummond is going to have the chance to play before a national audience on All-Star weekend when he takes part in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge. And he is on the perfect team for his particular brand of high-flying dunks and elite athleticism.
Drummond was drafted fifth overall by "GM" Shaquille O'Neal live on TNT Thursday. Before Drummond, O'Neal had drafted Damian Lillard with his first pick and Kyrie Irving with his second pick.
His drafting adversary -- Charles Barkley -- selected Anthony Davis first and Kenneth Faried second.
Brandon Knight was drafted by Barkley. He joins Kawhi Leonard, Bradley Beal, Ricky Rubio, Tristan Thompson, Nikola Vucevic, Isaiah Thomas and Alexi Shved.
In addition to Lillard and Irving, Drummond's teammates include Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes, Chandler Parson, Dion waiters, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Tyler Zeller and Kemba Walker.
The draft really couldn't have gone better to allow Drummond to show off his unique skillset. He has the two best point guards in the aforementioned Lillard and Iving, 3-point shooting in Thompson and Parsons and players that aren't going to just chuck every shot available in MKG and Zeller.
As far as Knight's team .... yeah, I'm not really sure what Barkley was thinking there.
