2013 NBA Free Agency: Andre Iguodala to Warriors for 4 years, $48 million

Does this mean Golden State is out of running for Dwight Howard? What does it mean for Detroit? What about Josh Smith? What about Will Bynum? What ABOUT Will Bynum? So many questions!

USA TODAY Sports

Free agent forward Andre Iguodala has reached an agreement on a four-year, $48 million with the Golden State Warriors, according to Adrian Wojnarowski and others on Twitter.

The Warriors were able to make the move by sending out Richard Jefferson and Andris Biedrins, plus unidentified sweeteners, to the Utah Jazz, who had the cap space to take on both expiring deals.

The move takes the Warriors out of the running for free agent big man Dwight Howard, Wojnarowski writes, though Howard has not informed any teams about his eventual destination.

Iguodala was one of Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars primary offseason targets. Dumars also set his sights on Atlanta power forward Josh Smith.

And there is a good likelihood that Dumars will miss out on Smith as well, as is discussed in more detail here. Also at that link, a discussion on what Pistons should do if they miss out on both Iggy and Smith.

Iguodala is one of the premier defenders in the NBA and should fit in nicely with the nice offensive pieces the Warriors have assembled, including Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and David Lee.
