Police investigate dispute involving Maurice Cheeks

New, comments

The new Pistons coach not arrested and no charges expected to be filed.

Update: Mo Cheeks won't be charged.

You can file this under why can't the season just start already. Police reportedly investigated an incident involving new Detroit Pistons head coach Maurice Cheeks. Details are sketchy, and I mean really sketchy. There is no indication of what happened, who was involved or where specifically it took place.

Via The Detroit News:

Birmingham police were called to investigate a dispute involving Pistons coach Maurice Cheeks over the weekend.

Cheeks, who will turn 57 next week, wasn't arrested or booked, nor were there any charges filed by Birmingham police, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Cheeks was questioned at the scene and let go.

The source requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the situation.

Cheeks agreed to become the fifth Pistons coach since 2008 in June, and training camp begins at the beginning of October.

Details may still emerge or, considering no arrest was made and no charges were filed, it might just remain a big nothing. If more develops we will bring it to you.
