Pistons vs. 76ers final score: Detroit snaps 6-game skid vs. Sixers

The Pistons spotted the Philadelphia 76ers a 16-point lead, but battled back and actually dominated a second half for once to win 114-104, ending their six-game losing streak.

What happened:

I turned the game on a couple minutes late and the Pistons were already down 12-2. The deficit quickly grew to 15 and then it was 16. The woeful 76ers made their first seven shots. The Pistons were well on their way to earning a Johnny Wanamaker award.

But then the Pistons stopped turning the ball over -- they had four in the first three and a half minutes -- and started playing some defense and making shots. Good basketball things.

From the halfway point of the first quarter on, the Pistons outscored the Sixers 103-77. Brandon Jennings' second three-pointer in the third quarter put the Pistons up for the first time in the game and his third three of the quarter put the Pistons up for good.

What stood out:

-- Maurice Cheeks played seven players 26-plus minutes and each scored in double figures.

-- The Pistons outrebounded the Sixers 62-42.

-- The Pistons knocked down some shots outside the paint:

-- Greg Monroe was the first to the bench three and a half minutes into the game... Cheeks did not play Monroe with Andre Drummond and Josh Smith at the same time again until the start of the third quarter.

Who stood out:

Smith, for both good and bad reasons. He scored 22 points, but needed 23 shots to do so frustratingly. By comparison, Monroe had 15 on 6 shots. Only 7 fewer points on SIXTEEN fewer shots! But Smith stuffed the box score in other much more positive areas, as well. 13 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 blocks and 4 steals. He was inches away from becoming the 16th "5x5" in NBA history, and he still made history:

Bullets:

-- Drummond had another double-double (11 & 12) and he had 6 blocks. He also had his 5th technical foul this season, which puts him tied for 5th in the NBA.

-- Kyle Singler was the first off the bench, replacing Monroe, and was very instrumental in the comeback. He finished with 16 points and 8 rebounds in 35 minutes.

-- Jennings hit 3 of his 5 three-pointers in the third quarter and scored 18 of his 19 points overall in the second half. As mentioned, he keyed the big run in the third quarter.
