Peyton Siva actually tweeted on Jan. 11 that he was on his way back to Detroit, but the Pistons didn't announce anything official until this morning when a notification popped up on my phone from the Pistons app that Peyton Siva and Tony Mitchell were recalled. Of course, when I swiped the screen to open the story, there was nothing more attached to it.
As Dan Feldman at PistonPowered pointed out, Siva (wrist) and Mitchell (ankle) have been injured, missing the Mad Ants' last two games, so with the long layoff between Pistons games, it does seem like a pretty good chance to get the two second round draft picks some attention from the renowned Pistons trainers and, if and when healthy, some practice against NBA competition. Or, as Feldman guessed, this could have been the plan all along, regardless of circumstances.
Siva and Mitchell had decent numbers with the Mad Ants. Mitchell started five games, averaging just under 7 points and 7 rebounds per game with a block and a half. Siva started four games and played in another, averaging 12 points, 5.8 assists and 2.6 steals per game.
Was anybody able to see them play for the Mad Ants at all? If so, leave us your thoughts on their development in the comments.
