After D.J. Augustin started at point guard on Thursday vs. the Milwaukee Bucks, incumbent point guard Brandon Jennings finds himself slotted back into the starting spot on Sunday vs. John Wall and the Washington Wizards.
Jennings played 23 minutes off the bench on Thursday, assisting four baskets opposite one turnover. For however little it's worth, he had the highest plus-minus on the team with a plus-22. Augustin assisted seven baskets opposite three turnovers and made his only triple try.
Jennings will join the already-scheduled-to-start frontcourt duo of Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe, and his back-court mate will be Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who is averaging 19 points per game through two preseason games. Caldwell-Pope is getting his second straight start because Jodie Meeks is unlikely to play, as he continues to be bothered by back spasms. Meeks missed Saturday's practice.
As for the starting small forward, we don't know yet. Van Gundy suggested that it will depend on Josh Smith's availability.
