The Detroit Pistons have waived camp invitees Hasheem Thabeet, Brian Cook, Josh Bostic and Lorenzo Brownaccording to Vincent Goodwill of the Detroit News.

None of the players were expected to make the team as the Pistons are already over the 15-player roster limit with 16 guaranteed contracts on the books. The only player that had a chance to make the roster was big man Hasheem Thabeet, who could have provided depth at the center position. Thabeet was signed by the team after it discovered that reserve big man Aaron Gray was going to miss extended time due to a cardiac issue.

Thabeet rarely played and was disappointing when he did see the floor. The Pistons instead traded reserve point guard Will Bynum to the Boston Celtics for backup big man Joel Anthony.

The Pistons will still have to trade or waive somebody to get the roster down to the maximum 15 players with the most likely candidates being Tony Mitchell or Luigi Datome. The team could also release the injured Aaron Gray with another backup big man in the fold.

Thabeet ends his time in Detroit playing one preseason game, playing 5 minutes, missing his only attempt and recording zero rebounds, blocks and steals. Brian Cook scored a total of four points in two games while Brown and Bostic also went scoreless.

There has been no indication about whether any of the players will be assigned to the Pistons D-League team, the Grand Rapids Drive.
