The Detroit Pistons have announced that Chauncey Billups has undregone successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.

The procedure was performed by team orthopedic surgeon Dr. Stephen Lemos at DMC Surgical Hospital. The surgery was able to smooth irregularities in the meniscus and alleviate pain and inflammation, according to the organization. He will begin rehabbing immediately and be re-evaluated in a few weeks, the team said.

Billups has struggled to stay healthy all year and when he has seen the floor he hasn't been able to consistently deliver the scoring or distributing the team hoped it was getting when it signed the veteran to a two-year the offseason. The second year of the deal is a team option and at this point it looks like the team will decline that option and Billups might call it a career.

So far this season he has played 309 minutes, is shooting 30 percent and averaging 3.8 points and 2.2 assists.
