2014 NBA Draft: Jabari Parker goes No. 2 to the Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks have selected Jabari Parker with the second overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft. The Bucks are among the Eastern Conference teams fighting with the Pistons to move out of the cellar of the Eastern Conference and get back into playoff contention.

Parker could be the kind of player that can instantly remake the fortunes of a franchise. He could be that cornerstone player that you build everything around and all of the sudden things make more sense and are able to fall into place. The Bucks might still be a couple of years away from serious contention, but with Parker carrying much of the offensive load and troubled defensive big man Larry Sanders back in the fold, and the Greek Freak Giannis Antetokounmpo the Bucks have a clear path forward.

And don't forget that the Bucks have former Pistons Brandon Knight and Khris Middleton who project at worse as competent guys off the bench or fringe starters.

Parker averaged 19.1 points per game, 8.7 rebounds and more than a block per game in his only season at Kansas.

In the first two picks of the 2014 NBA Draft two Central teams -- the Cavaliers and Bucks -- selected Andrew Wiggins and Parker, respectively.

These teams represent prime competition as the Pistons fight for relevancy, and yet you can't help but feeling that there is a reason that these teams continually pick high in the draft (and Detroit should be included in that thought as well).

I guess it comes down to this -- what is better for the future of the respective franchieses, David Blatt, Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and Kyrie Irving; Larry Drew, Jabari Parker, Larry Sanders and Giannis Antetokounmpo or Stan Van Gundy, Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe?
