Team USA continues its march to a FIBA World Cup title with its semifinal match this afternoon against Lithuania. The game tips off at 3 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN. If your stuck at work without a TV nearby, you can still stream the game on your computer or mobile phone using WatchESPN, assuming you know your login credentials for your cable provider.
There's at least a chance that Detroit Pistons fans will see Andre Drummond play meaningful minutes in this game. Lithuania is led by up-and-coming center Jonas Valanciunas, who's averaging a team-high 12.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. He's a physical player, and Coach K may turn to backup big men DeMarcus Cousins, Drummond and Mason Plumlee earlier than usual.
France takes on Serbia in the other semifinal on Friday. France upset Spain, the host country and pre-tournament favorite, yesterday for the second straight international competition, having knocked them out in the Eurobasket championship game last summer. I suppose having Spain out of the picture is a good thing for Team USA, but I'm personally disappointed -- Spain's imposing front court of Pau Gasol, Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka was likely why Coach K opted to add Drummond to a roster that already includes Anthony Davis, Cousins and Plumlee.
In any case, I'm looking ahead. First up: Lithuania. As a wise man once said, let's get this W, #2TillGold. Consider the your official DBB GameThread.
