Pistons vs. Spurs final score: Brandon Jennings hits game-winner with 0.1 seconds left

The Detroit Pistons stunned the San Antonio Spurs, 105-104, after Andre Drummond stole an inbound pass with eight seconds left and Brandon Jennings ran the length of the court to hit the go-ahead layup with 0.1 seconds remaining.

The incredible play capped off a night in which the Pistons trailed by as many as 18 in the first half before storming back to take a double-digit lead of their own in the third quarter before an exhilarating back-and-forth final frame. Jennings, who was red-hot in the Pistons' previous five wins, was the hero yet again despite shooting just 4-17 before his game-winning layup.

Obviously a lot happened between the Pistons being down 18 in the second quarter and the game-winner. As I mentioned, the Pistons went up by as many 10 points at one point, thanks to an awesome third quarter. Following up a 13-4 run to end the first half, Andre Drummond led the Pistons to a 33-19 third quarter with nine points, six rebounds and a block in almost a full quarter's worth of work. Drummond even hit three free throws in a row!

The Pistons did it with staunch defense -- not at all how they won the first five games of this streak. While they hit a franchise record 66 threes in the five games before, the Pistons hit only three of 19 against the Spurs. In fact, the Pistons were 0-11 from the long line in the second half. OH-FOR-ELEVEN! Credit the Spurs in that they were really defending the perimeter well, forcing the Pistons into too many forced threes, but the Pistons found other ways to score. They scored 58 points in the paint and got another 20 from the free throw line.

The Pistons trailed 103-101 with 40 seconds remaining in the game with a chance to tie, but Jennings missed what appeared to be a bunny layup that the Spurs rebounded. It was Jennings' 13th miss of the game and another missed layup in what was a long game for him up until the final second.

The Pistons defended the Spurs (Patty Mills) into a miss on the other side of the court, but Tiago Splitter managed to coral the rebound with 10.8 seconds left, forcing the Pistons to foul. Mills split his free throws to put the Spurs up 104-101.

After a timeout, the Spurs decided to play into fouling, doing such on a reach for a steal and giving the Pistons two free throws rather than a chance to tie the game with their first three-pointer of the half. Jodie Meeks was fouled and hit both of his free throws to cut it to 104-103.

With eight seconds remaining and the Spurs inbounding with a one-point lead near the Pistons bench, Tim Duncan's pass to Mills got away and Andre Drummond was able to pick it up. He quickly gave it up to Kentavious Caldwell-Pope who pitched it to Jennings and ... you know the rest -- swag.

What you don't see above is that the refs conducted an official review after Jennings' clear make and decided there was 0.1 second left for the Spurs. That's when Stan Van Gundy went into full coach mode. The Pistons listened and the Spurs couldn't tip in a miraculous tenth-of-a-second basket.

Drummond finished with 20 points, 17 rebounds and got credited with the steal that led to Jennings' game-winner. Jennings scored 13 with seven assists, while D.J. Augustin scored 19 off the bench. Greg Monroe had 17 points.

The Pistons look to extend the streak to seven on Wed. night in Dallas.
