Chauncey Billups trade finally exorcised 7 years later

The Pistons are 3-0 for the first time since 2008, the year the Pistons traded Chauncey Billups.

As Detroit Sports Nation reminded us in the Morning Shootaround, today, Tuesday, Nov. 3, marks the seven year anniversary of the infamous Chauncey Billups trade. The senseless Allen Iverson trade made by Joe Dumars two games into the 2008-2009 season that sent the organization into a total tailspin. I touched on it all a couple years ago, so I'd rather not pull the scabs.

But now the Pistons are 3-0 for the first time since the first game after that trade. They have a legitimate chance to be 4-0 for the first time since that time, too. The difference between the 2008 3-0 team and this year's team? While this year's team probably won't finish 82-0, despite what the hard numbers tell us, it is more than likely that the fog has dissipated by the Stan Van Gundy sunny days ahead of us and there will be no free fall into a half decade or more of insanity and circus shows.

It was nice that Billups at least finished his career in Detroit. The circle officially completes when Chauncey Billups' jersey is retired later this season.

Now your thoughts.
