REGGIE JACKSON NAMED EASTERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Earns Award For Second Time This Season
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The NBA announced today that Pistons Guard Reggie Jackson has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played from December 14 through December 20. This marks Jackson’s second Eastern Conference Player of the Week award and he joins Andre Drummond (11/1 and 11/8) as the only Pistons teammates to win the award twice in the same season. Jackson and Drummond became the first Pistons to win the award in the same season since Ben Wallace and Chauncey Billups each won Player of the Week honors during the 2003-04 season.
Jackson averaged 29.3 points (first in the Eastern Conference), 6.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists (second in the Eastern Conference) in leading the Pistons to a 2-1 record for the week against three teams with above .500 records. He shot 46% from the field, 38% from behind the arc and 83% from the free-throw line.
The 6-3, 208-pound guard from Boston College recorded two 30/10 games with 34 points and a season-high 11 rebounds vs. L.A. Clippers and 31 points and 13 assists in a quadruple overtime win at Chicago. Jackson scored 13 of the Pistons’ 20 points in the deciding fourth overtime period to lead Detroit to a win in the first four-overtime game in Detroit Pistons history. In a 119-116 win over Boston, he recorded 23 points to go with two rebounds and three assists. Jackson is averaging team highs in points (20.5) and assists (6.5) to go with 4.2 rebounds this season.
