With the NBA trade deadline on Thursday, Feb. 19, there are going to be a lot of rumors floating around in the next few days. It's important to be able to decipher rumors from roomers and sources from hot pockets.
One name you might hear or read about is Greg Monroe. Don't get all excited, for better or worse.
"It's not gonna happen," Stan Van Gundy said last Wednesday. "I don't know where Greg's head will be in the offseason, but we're still hopeful of Greg Monroe for the long term. And with him going into free agency, you won't get a lot, maybe a pick. I'm not gonna walk in that locker room and give up a piece like that and then tell the guys we're trying to make the playoffs. They deserve the chance to ride this out. You never say never to anything, but I can tell you about 99.9 percent, Greg Monroe's not going anywhere." via Detroit News
Van Gundy has also made it clear that the Pistons will not sacrifice the future for the present, which means they're not giving up any picks or players on rookie contracts. If they trade anybody, it's Joel Anthony, Gigi Datome and/or Jonas Jerebko. Maybe Kyle Singler. Those four are in the final year of their respective deals.
If I had to guess, based on all indications, Pistons news will remain relatively quiet at the deadline. Not a bold guess, I know. Of course, we'll be on top of it if something changes.
Now your thoughts.
