Stan Van Gundy says goodbye to Caron Butler, Shawne Williams

Ilyasova means it's all over for Butler and Williams in Detroit.

The Pistons traded peanuts, a couple unguaranteed contracts, to the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday in exchange for Ersan Ilyasova, who figures to slip right into the power forward spot for the Pistons in 2015-2016. It's easy to forget about those small pieces.

The Detroit News' story has a quote from Van Gundy bidding Caron Butler and Shawne Williams adieu:

"We appreciate the contributions of Caron and Shawne," Van Gundy said. "Caron, in particular, is difficult to say goodbye to. Not only did he play well for us, his leadership went above and beyond. I'm not sure I've ever seen a single player have a more a positive impact on a team than Caron did on ours. He is a special person and we will always respect and appreciate what he did here."

Butler had a tough time in Milwaukee before he was shipped to Oklahoma City in 2013-2014 (before Van Gundy signed him in July last summer), but he'll likely get cut by the salary-shedding Bucks. If the Pistons miss him, he's always a long distance call away, and Van Gundy loves long distance calls.

Now your thoughts.
