If there was any remaining hope that Greg Monroe would re-sign with the Detroit Pistons (there shouldn't have been), Moose pretty much squashed it all to dirt with his hooves and quote to Darrell Williams at The Advocate in New Orleans:
"Stan had smaller teams in Orlando (Magic) years ago," Monroe said. "Dre is like Dwight Howard. So Stan wants to put good players around him. The team has different plans, and I respect that. I don't want to be anywhere I'm not wanted."
The quote read literally suggests that the Pistons simply don't want Monroe and thus, Monroe doesn't want to play for the Pistons. That's not entirely true.
The Pistons, like many of us, love Monroe. They just don't want to have to pay him the money he's seeking, which is likely the max. So, really, if Monroe was being completely candid, he would've said, "The Pistons don't want to pay me what I think I deserve. I don't want to be anywhere I'm not paid the money I think I deserve."
And nobody should have to settle if they don't want to. Monroe has earned that right. Monroe deserves to be paid a lot of money, but the Pistons do have different plans. They made that clear when they acquired Ersan Ilyasova. They're not building a traditional front court and it's cool of Monroe to respect that.
Now your thoughts.
