For the sake of putting a bow on this, Ty Lawson is no longer connected to the Detroit Pistons and likely was no more after the Steve Blake trade. Lawson has been traded to the Houston Rockets for a protected first round pick and spare parts.
From Marc Stein at ESPN:
The Nuggets, sources say, will acquire the non-guaranteed contract of forward Kostas Papanikolaou and the partially guaranteed contract of veteran guard Pablo Prigioni along with Joey Dorsey, Nick Johnson and the future first-round pick.
Sources say Denver will also send a 2017 second-round pick to Houston with Lawson, who is currently in rehab in Los Angeles after his second DUI arrest in 2015.
The equivalent from the Pistons, as Steve Hinson put it, would've been a protected first and all of our junk. Given Lawson's off-the-court problems, recent decline in play and contract, Blake's the better option anyway.
Turns out that Vince Ellis was right all along.
I Tweeted earlier that it's probably old interest before they got Blake. https://t.co/6S8ZeRsGwb
