District Detroit: The Most Compact Sports District In America Is Revitalizing Downtown Detroit

There are 13 cities in America with at least four pro teams spanning each of the four longest-standing sports leagues in North America. Among these 13 cities, only the metro New York area has held this distinction longer than Detroit. As you scan through the list below, none of these cities will have the same degree of compactness as Detroit will by this time next year.

For the city list check this Forbes link.

Detroit Pistons still pondering Stanley Johnson's long-term spot

From earlier in the week at the Detroit Free Press:

“The only thing we know for sure is that he (Johnson) can guard three positions and sometimes four and that he’s a good rebounder,” Van Gundy said. “Offensively, I don’t think we have an identity for him. Is he a big two-guard in the mold of Wes Matthews, Jimmy Butler who is going to go down and be a post-up guy against smaller twos, but then also develop into a good shooter?

“I think he has the capabilities probably of either, but I think we need to find an identity with him.”

Latest D-League stint for Henry Ellenson, Michael Gbinije could be cut short

Reggie Bullock just can’t catch any luck it seems. Here’s MLive:

The working plan as of Wednesday was for Detroit Pistons rookies Henry Ellenson and Michael Gbinije to spend part, if not all, of the weekend in Grand Rapids.

Those plans may be changing Thursday after Pistons guard Reggie Bullock went down with an undisclosed injury.

Bullock exited the Pistons' 107-84 win over the Miami Heat in the second quarter limping. He was taken to the locker room and never returned, with the Pistons only saying he suffered a lower leg injury.

Afterward, Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy hinted that Bullock may miss time.

"I don't know the final thing here, but we'll have to find out," Van Gundy said. "It's too bad. The guy just got back to playing, and we'll see what happens."

NBA Power Rankings: Eastern Conference point guards

The author of these rankings clearly hasn’t watched much Pistons basketball this season. Not Fansided’s best showing:

14. Ish Smith

Smith is getting to start for the Detroit Pistons while Reggie Jackson is out. He is averaging nine points and six assists thus far and proving that for some teams he can be a starting-caliber player.

Pistons fan heckled Udonis Haslem on Wednesday vs. Heat

Udonis confronted the fan and good for him. Fans shouldn’t be let off the hook when acting like disrespectful doofuses. Just behave yourself. Be civil.

"You know how fans get some times? They get real disrespectful," Haslem said.

Ersan Ilyasova’s flop had announcers fooled big time

They evidently didn’t pay attention to the replay. Video via Pro Basketball Talk:
