It’s been a rough start to Stanley Johnson’s sophomore campaign. He’s been working to find his identity as a NBA player, struggling on the offensive end, even earning a DNP-CD.
Tonight will be another DNP for Johnson, but this time for a suspension. Stan Van Gundy said Johnson would miss tonight’s game against the Clippers for a violation of team rules. SVG didn’t specify any further than that.
Reggie Bullock suffered a severe knee injury Wednesday night against the Heat, which will put him out for extended time - and also meant that the backup minutes on the wing would likely be fully back to Johnson.
With both Johnson and Bullock sidelined, Van Gundy will have to dig deeper down the bench - probably Darrun Hilliard, who played well as a rookie last season but has shown little in his few garbage time minutes this year.
It sounds like it’ll only be a one-game absence for Johnson, putting him back on the court tomorrow in Oklahoma City.
