The quote is from after the Pistons-Hornets game, but I saw it for the first time in Monday's MLIVE notes. Stan Van Gundy was none too pleased with renowned mouth-breather Tyler Hansbrough getting a little Psycho T-ish near the very end of Friday night's game:
The Hansbrough cringe: In the final seconds of the Pistons' win Friday over Charlotte, with the outcome no longer in doubt, Hornets forward and renowned tough guy Tyler Hansbrough tried to wrest a dead ball from Pistons center Aron Baynes, who ripped it away. Asked about that play, Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy disclosed that while he respects Hansbrough's intensity, "a lot of times it's to the point of recklessness." Van Gundy added, "When Hansbrough comes in, I'm always worried about somebody getting hurt. I just am. No, I'm just serious. I just am. I'm always worried about somebody getting hurt." Asked if that's because Hansbrough is the kind of player you want on your team, Van Gundy replied, "Maybe game night."
Hansbrough knows exactly what he's doing, too. Good for Baynes for not taking the bait. SVG's comments on Hansbrough come a little over three years after MF Will Bynum punched Hansbrough and got suspended for it.
Now your thoughts.
