Pistons Offseason Project

I'm thinking we are going for it all next season. So let's go for broke.

Salary Cap/Re-signing

Tobias Harris - $17,000,000

Reggie Jackson - $15,000,000

Jodie Meeks - $6,540,000

Aron Baynes - $6,500,000

(Josh Smith stretch) - $5,400,000

Marcus Morris - $5,000,000

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope - $3,678,319

Stanley Johnson - $2,969,880

Reggie Bullock - $2,255,644

(Aaron Gray stretch) - $452,059

Non-guaranteed and options:

I only pick up Hilliard.

Darrun Hilliard - partially guaranteed $874,060

Trades:

Trade 1:

Pistons get- MIL #36 Mil gets- Jodie Meeks

Milwaukee needs shooting. We need cap space for Horford.

Trade 2:

Pistons get- IND #20, #50 Pacers get- DET #18

Pacers want PG Demetrius Jackson. We want draft picks.

Trade 3:

Pistons get- LAL #32 Lakers get- DET #36, #49, #50

More lottery tickets for Lakers. We get Thon Maker

Draft picks: (picks based on Draft Express)

Pick 20- Denzel Valentine

Pick 32- Thon Maker

Free agency:

My top target is Al Horford. I convince him to take $96M/4 years to play next to a legit center, so he can play his desired position of PF. He would move us into the top tier of the East, and would still be playing for a contender.

Then sign Jerryd Bayless $15M/3 years. We may be able to get him for less. Solid shooter. Passable defender. Huge improvement over Steve Blake.

Then sign Andre (~$23M/year).

Total 2016 Salaries $113,387,762

Lineups:

PG Reggie Jackson, Jerryd Bayless, Denzel Valentine

SG Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Stanley Johnson, Darrun Hilliard, Denzel Valentine

SF Marcus Morris, Stanley Johnson, Reggie Bullock

PF Al Horford, Tobias Harris, Marcus Morris, Thon Maker

C Andre Drummond, Aaron Baynes, Al Horford

Back up plan:

If we can’t get Horford, then we sign Jeremy Lin ($10M/year). Trade Meeks for Kyle O’Quinn. Draft Denzel at #18 and the highest upside guy at #49.

Total 2016 Salaries $98,251,962
