Rod Beard's top NBA free agents -- Detroit News
The prevailing notion is Van Gundy is content with Reggie Jackson, Tobias Harris and Andre Drummond as anchors in the starting lineup.
And while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Marcus Morris are good starters, those are two positions that Van Gundy could upgrade through free agency and move either to help strengthen the bench.
Unless Detroit miraculously plans to grab Jimmy Butler or something, Caldwell-Pope is not going anywhere as a starter.
Also: from Beard's Pistons free agent "target" list I found the inclusion of Rajon Rondo unneeded. Really, Rod? Steve Blake has a better chance of returning as the primary backup point guard than Rondo does at signing here. And we all know that Steve will certainly not be returning as the primary backup, so there! No chance!
I think (as do Rod and many of you readers out there) Brandon Jennings could be a legitimate option for Detroit to consider at backup point guard.

Check out the list. I'm leaning towards Tyler Ulis these days, and whad'ya know, he's listed numero uno.

Many of these bring back warm and fuzzy feelings. And I'm so looking forward to the many fun photos of the Pistons deep run in the playoffs next season. Is it April yet?
