The Pistons could be looking to add some depth at forward, with Basketball Insiders' Alex Kennedy reporting that Detroit is among several teams showing interest in Maurice Harkless. Currently a restricted free agent with the Portland Trail Blazers, Moe averaged 6.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in under 19 minutes per game for Terry Stotts last season, his fourth in the League.
Harkless doesn't make much sense for Motown. Both forward positions relatively deep and the 23-year old forward doesn't appear to address the glaring need for additional shooting on the wing. The St. John's product has hit 30 percent from deep over the course of his NBA career, is a poor free-throw shooter.
Harkless split his time 70-30 between small forward and power forward last year, and the thought could be that he could develop into a primary power forward with the athleticism to switch and chase guys on the perimeter. Maybe.
