The Detroit Pistons traded Jodie Meeks last month to the Orlando Magic for a future second round pick, opening up a bit of cap space and giving Meeks a chance at a fresh start. Well, that fresh start isn't off to a great beginning for Meeks.
The Magic have announced that Jodie Meeks had surgery today to "further stabilize the 5th metatarsal in his right foot."

And:
The Magic say Meeks "will be out indefinitely and his return to action will depend on how he responds to rehabilitation."

This presumably looks to be a continuation of the Jones Fracture that kept Meeks out for much of last season with the Pistons.
It's an unfortunate break for Meeks, who has been hampered by injuries for each of the past two seasons. But it's also a bit of a dodged bullet by the Pistons. They have plenty of young talent on the wings, which made Meeks expendable in the first place. And the extra cap space let them afford to take a flyer on Boban Marjanovic.
Hopefully Meeks can get healthy and back on the court soon.
