Football started, which can only mean that basketball is around the corner. In the past few weeks, though I knew it was the last week of the month like every other year, I’d still occasionally Google search “when does NBA training camp start?” and come up empty — until now!
Finally, the NBA updated its key dates for 2016-2017 page and has some answers on when exactly training camp starts.
Here they are, people:
September 23
First allowable date for players participating in preseason NBA Global Games to report to their teams (no earlier than 11 a.m. local time)
September 24
Training Camps open for all teams participating in preseason NBA Global Games
September 26
First allowable date for all other players to report to their teams (no earlier than 11 a.m. local time)
September 27
Training Camps open for all other teams
Expect the Pistons to report Sept. 26. If you’re following the Pistons on social media, like Andre Drummond, you know that they are already hanging out together (sans coaches), playing pickup games, and doing general team-bonding experiences. This team is as anxious as we are for some MF-Pistons basketball.
After training camp opens, the Pistons play their first preseason game on Oct. 6 in Brooklyn. You can find the full preseason schedule here.
In the coming weeks, we’ll have full player previews and more, so stay tuned.
