Celebrate Henry Ellenson’s birthday with this adorable picture of him as a kid

Even NBA players have proud moms and unfortunate childhood fashion choices

Happy birthday to Henry Ellenson, the rookie Detroit Pistons big man turns 20 today.

He might have signed a rookie contract that will pay him more than $8 million this summer, but that doesn’t mean he’s immune from his mom wishing him a happy birthday by posting adorably cute photos from his childhood.

Indeed, this just proves that even seven-foot NBA millionaires with athleticism in the top 0.1 percent of the world were at one point an awkward Midwestern kid dressed up in a denim jacket and army pants who wanted nothing more than to play on the jungle gym.

Ellenson joined a crowded front court in Detroit and has only played in 12 games in his rookie campaign, averaging 1.3 points in just 4.1 minutes. When the schedule permits, Ellenson gets some run with the Grand Rapids Drive where he has averaged 18.3 points and 9.7 rebounds in six games.

Happy birthday, Henry. And if Holly Ellenson has any embarrassing childhood photos to share, we’d love to see them!
