Tobias Harris was everything Detroit needed on offense and Stanley Johnson shined on defense as the Detroit Pistons opened Little Caesars Arena with a 102-90 victory over the Charlotte Hornets.
Tobias Harris had 27 points, including 19 in the first half. He was blazing hot from all over the floor and helped Detroit weather some first-half foul trouble of Andre Drummond and Avery Bradley. He also capped the game off with a dagger 3-pointer from the top of the key to put the Hornets away for good.
Johnson, meanwhile, was everywhere on defense and played perhaps the best 0-for-13 game you’ll ever see. He had four of Detroit’s 14 steals. He was also a big factor in Detroit turning 17 Charlotte turnovers into 26 Pistons points.
The Hornets were lead by 24 points from Kemba Walker.
