Detroit Pistons guard Avery Bradley agreed to a financial settlement with a woman accusing him of sexual assault in May, according to TMZ Sports.
A lawyer for Bradley said the player agreed to the settlement to “prevent false information from being made public”, according to the report.
The alleged incident occurred on May 23 when Bradley was still with and the Celtics were in Cleveland facing the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. The woman alleges Bradley assaulted her while she was passed out drunk, according to the report from TMZ Sports.
TMZ reports that a settlement number as high as $400,000 was discussed, but no final agreed upon amount is known.
Bradley’s attorney strongly denies the allegations against Bradley and said he could take legal action following the disclosure of the agreement.
“Mr. Bradley absolutely denies having engaged in wrongdoing whatsoever. The confidentiality agreement specifically refutes and denies the validity of all allegations of any wrongful conduct by Mr. Bradley. The sole purpose of the agreement was to protect the reputation and privacy of Mr. Bradley and his family."
Wolf adds, "My office will take all appropriate action against all persons involved in the wrongful disclosure of this agreement. We will conduct a thorough investigation into who is responsible for this wrongful disclosure."
