Now what? Luxury tax?

I imagine a full post on something like this is coming, but I'm posting this half-assed Fanpost anyway.

If we assume the Pistons sign KCP for about $22M, that puts the team roughly around the luxury tax line. It could go over it quite a bit depending on if they use the mid-level exception or not, and depending on how expensive their last few roster spots end up being. Back of the envelope, I could easily see the salary going into the year being about $10M over the tax.

So, what's going to happen? Is Gores just going to cough up cash? Is KCP not going to be resigned? Those seem to be the only options without a strip down that I can come up with. If not, what is likely to happen?

I guess the point I'm poorly making is that on the one hand, I think it looks like a boring offseason where they just make their pick, add some filler, and run it back. But doing that is going to be very, very expensive and I don't see a way to make it any less expensive without either moving Morris or Harris (good contracts) or attaching a pick to move someone else.

Any thoughts as to what we are realistically in for?
