Reviewing ESPN's Pistons Stat Projections for 2017-18

Every summer, ESPN publishes their stat projections for fantasy basketball. As of now, 6 Pistons players projections have been released, I don't know if in the future the rest of players will have projections too or not. In the Pistons list (of 20 players!), for whatever reason there are still the likes of Steve Blake, Ray McCallum, Michael Gbinije, Cameron Bairstow... Anyways I don't know why ESPN still has these players there and I don't know why only 6 players have their stats projected, and why those 6, cause they aren't the best 6 either.

Andre Drummond

31.3 MIN 15.4 PTS 14.1 RBS 0.9 AS 1.3 BLK 1.3 STL 53.9FG% 38.5FT%

Okay, I think this is pretty accurate and it would be pretty close statiscally to his All-Star season (2015-16), where he had 16.2 PTS and 14.8 RBS. Overall I would be happy if he had these stats this season, hopefully a bit higher in points and free throw percentatge (maybe get over 40%?) though.

Reggie Jackson

28.8 MIN 17.9 PTS 2.0 RBS 4.9 AS 0.1 BLK 0.6 STL 43.3FG% 86.3FT% 1.4 3PM

Pretty accurate I guess but rebound and assists seem a bit too low to me. Hopefully Reggie can get around 6 assists per game or so and 2 rebounds is really miserable, I think he'll get somewhere between 3 and 4. With that being said, 17.9 points in 28.8 minutes sounds pretty good, and sounds healthy too.

Tobias Harris

31.0 MIN 16.8 PTS 5.4 RBS 2.1 AS 0.6 BLK 0.8 STL 47.5FG% 81.0FT% 1.5 3PM

This seems accurate in every way. It would just be slighltly higher than last season in points, rebounds and assists, so sounds good to me. I think he may play a couple more minutes a night though.

Avery Bradley

30.3 MIN 13.8 PTS 3.6 RBS 2.3 AS 0.3 BLK 1.6 STL 44.8FG% 74.4FT% 1.5 3PM

What is this? ESPN was doing a pretty good job so far man. I just don't think this will happen. Why would a player who averaged over 16 and 6 in 33 minutes in a team that had a guy who took almost 20 shots per game have his stats go down so much? Bradley's stats should go up, and atleast stay the same I think. He will have more protagonism in offense in Detroit and why would he average almost half of the rebounds? I see him averaging 17-5-2 or so, but man, ESPN I would like to know the reasons for this projection.

Luke Kennard

24.9 MIN 10.3 PTS 3.2 RBS 1.5 AS 0.3 BLK 0.4 STL 42.7FG% 86.0FT% 1.3 3PM

I would like to see Kennard playing 25 minutes per game, but I don't see it happening in his rookie season. The only way this could happen is if he played small forward minutes in extended small ball rotations. I wouldn't mind this happening, but I don't SVG will do it. I think Kennard is ready to play and contribute, but SVG will probably play more experienced players like Langston Galloway and Reggie Bullock at the backup wing minutes. I would like Kennard to play atleast 15 minutes per game, but I think it won't be like that. With that being said, I don't know why ESPN thinks Kennard will play 25 a night, but if he were to play that much, these stats seem really accurate.

Ish Smith

21.3 MIN 8.5 PTS 4.2 RBS 2.6 AS 0.3 BLK 0.6 STL 42.2FG% 71.9FT% 0.3 3PM

This seems accurate if you swap rebounds and assists. I guess they made a mistake or something, cause 4.2 rebounds in 21 minutes is a lot for Ish, and a good passer like him won't average 2.6 assists in 21 minutes. The rest seems okay I believe.

So that's it. Do you think they are accurate in general? I still would like to see what they project for guys like Jon Leuer, Stanley Johnson, Boban Marjanovic...
